YOUTH TAKE THE BUDGET CONVERSATION HEAD-ON AT YOUTH -FOCUS PRE-BUDGET CONSULTATION

On Monday, 20th January 2026, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Malawi, convened the much anticipated Youth-Focused Pre-Budget Consultation, bringing young people into direct dialogue with government on national priorities ahead of the 2026/2027 budget.

The consultation attracted over 100 youth leaders from across the country, including entrepreneurs, tech experts, university students, innovators, creatives, and youth network leaders. Participants engaged the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, Honourable Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, MP, in a rare national platform that reflected the current administration’s growing commitment to youth inclusion in decision-making and responded directly to His Excellency  President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika's call for youth to be actively involved across all sectors of the economy...
